Aariona Foundation, an NGO for foster care, education, women empowerment- gender equity was established in India having its corporate office in Odisha (Famed for hoisting the world cup hockey). Is today benefitting more than 30 thousand families.
If we take a look at the Indian education system with more than 250 million children, 1.5 million schools and 8.5 million teachers, we won't be surprised that a substantial portion of 4-year-olds do not go to the government pre school facility or the Anganwadi centers. While 90% of the brain growth happens by age 5, this lack of motivation to attend school has led to children feeling to learn basics. Children participation in pre school and early primary grades is unstable, fluid and does not necessarily follow the linear age-based trajectory.
Aariona believes in Catalysing transformational change in school education. Aariona has taken up fun-based education to bring then back to school. Investing in children between the age 10 to 19 will help break the entrenched cycles of poverty and inequity. Cast, gender, poverty and location continue to be barriers for many young people to realize their full potential.
Women Empowerment: Every child deserves to reach his or her full potential but gender inequity is hinder this reality. Globally girls have higher survival rate at birth and are more likely to be develop mentally on track but in India more girls die than boys. Girls are more likely to drop out of school.
In India girls and boys experience adolescents differently. Girls face extensive limitations to move freely and make decisions effecting their work education and social relationships. Healthcare: We need multi sectoral collaboration, policy advocacy and work towards improving maternal new born child and adolescent health outcomes.
Maternal Health which includes building capacity of healthcare provides for pediatric.
Adolescent Health: It is unique and complex. Initiative as a school health and wellness, gender inequality, Rashtriya Kishor Swasthya Karyakam on menstrual hygiene are major focus areas.
